A Plethora of Stuff...

Hey! A lot has been happening in my life. I was kind of stressed out last weekend for several reasons: (including) my English grade (that got resolved this week when I conferenced w/ my teacher about my rewrite), the fact that I'm not really improving on my SAT (we've taken 2 practice tests in my prep course), among others. But I feel better now; I don't know why, but it could be that I'm started excited for tennis season. Oh, by the way, speaking of tennis season, the first practice is a week from Monday; on Wednesday at Team Night there were mostly returning players but there were also several new freshman, which is always good. I really hope I'm on Varsity this year! I don't want to get my hopes up, but I think I have a strong chance 'cuz there are at least 5 open spots (that I'm sure of) & I've improved my serve a lot. I think I hit pretty well (a lot harder than I did last year), & as long as I don't get frustrated and concentrate 24/7 I should have a chance. But even if I'm on JV for the 3rd year in a row I won't quit or anything; tennis is the only sport I play, so that's what I'm concentrating on. Plus, playing for 4 years on the tennis team--no matter what rank--will look good on my college application...More stuff: My flute recital is a week from today. I usually play a duet with my flute teacher, but this year I'm playing w/ the piano (my flute teacher's husband, actually). I think I'll be pretty nervous but I'm sure I'll do fine. The piece is called Sicilliene--it's very pretty; what I'm actually most worried about is if I'll be in tune! I've been thinking lately that it would be a good idea for me to buy a tuner, because in Band class I'm usually out of tune! :(...Last night, the four us (yes, Mom, Dad, bro, & I--believe it or not) went to go see Hidalgo. The main reason I agreed to it was because my mom's like totally obsessed w/ the main character, Viggo Mortensen, from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was actually pretty good, except for the violent parts. Oh, speaking of violence, last night at the movies I ran into my friend's confirmation group--they were going to see Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. She didn't really want to see it; I don't blame her, 'cuz I think it would impossible for me to sit through a 2-hour movie full of of bloody gore. I'm sure that it's very good but it's just not my thing...well, that's about it for now. Au revoir!
