Italy Trip
2004-09-04@5:04 p.m..

Hey!! Guess what? I just got back from Italy two days ago. It was sooooo much fun!!...

On Wednesday 8/25 I flew out of the Boston airport @ about 7pm, then arrived in Milan, Italy about 7 hrs later; it's 6 hrs later there, so it felt like 2am but it was really 8am. & plus, I hadn't really slept much on the plane, so I was really exhausted but nonetheless I stayed awake because I had to catch another plane--I had to wait for over 2 hrs. My plane to Florence was supposed to leave @ 10:20, I believe, but it didn't leave until almost 1 hr later. I guess I slept a little on the plane, 'cuz the 1-hr flight went by pretty quickly. After collecting my 1 piece of luggage @ baggage claim, I found Holly [my grandpa's g/f] & we drove to the apartment in Florence where she was house/cat-sitting. blah blah blah we had lunch--the best spaghetti I've ever had in my life--hung out during siesta (1-4pm). I'm not going to tell you what happened every day, 'cuz you'd get bored (& so would I)...

The best part was the food; basically everything I ate was sensational, especially the gelattos [ice cream]--I had like 4, & 3 of them were mint [I had strawberry once]. It's amazing how much Italians eat. They have two courses each @ lunch & @ dinner; I can't even finish the first course! When you say you're done & there's more food on your plate the waiters look @ you funny, because they expect you to eat the whole thing. I just can't do that. I'm not a bottomless pit, you know...Anyway, we did other things besides eating [thank goodness, right?]. We did some shopping; I bought a cute pink skirt for myself, a Tuscany calendar for my dad, a beautiful scarf for my mom, & a Florence snow globe for my bro.

here's a short synopsis: On Friday we went to a museum in Florence, w/ pretty silver, gold, glass, @ the Medecei [sp?] house. Saturday night we went out for dinner & got all dressed up. Sunday morning we drove to Livorno, a non-tourist town about 1 hr south of Florence. Holly has an apartment there [she's lived there for about a yr]. That night we watched "Cheaper by the Dozen" (in English thank God). Monday afternoon/evening we went to Lucca, a small town 30 min. from Livorno. Tuesday we hung out @ the "beach"--you lay out on this walkway on the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the waves were really big so we didn't go in the water, but I got a really nice tan! Wednesday morning we drove for like 45 min. to go to a place where they make marble. Thursday morning I got up really early--4:30am Europe time [really 10:30pm our time the night before]--so I could catch a plane @ 6:50am in Pisa. After arriving in Milan @ 7:30am, I had to wait more than 2 hrs. The plane to Boston left @ about 11am, & we arrived in the US 8 hrs later: 1pm US time/7pm Europe time. blah blah got luggage blah blah my grandpa picked me up blah blah went home. By the time I went to bed (8:15pm US time) I was sooooo incredibly tired. You have no idea. I was like dead to the world. I knew that if I stayed up any later I'd be even more dead.

Well that's it!! I know this entry was all about Italy; I'll probably update again next wk after school starts (aaah I can't believe I'm gonna be a senior!!!!!!). Arrevederci!! :)
