February Vacation
2004-02-21@8:06 p.m..

Hey! Well, we just got back yesterday from our new summer/winter house in Vermont (I don't know if I've ever mentioned the house before in a previous entry, so if you wanna know about it just send me a note or email me); Dad & I had left Valentine's Day to pick up my mom & my bro from Boston (he had an ACDA concert there). Then the 4 of us drove up to VT. I played tennis nearly every day w/ my mom--Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (I had a private lesson that day too), & Thursday--& thanks to that private lesson I can now get most of my serves in serving the right way, & my ground strokes are more consistent and more accurate. Perhaps I'll have a chance at being on Varsity this year on the school's team (there are 4 open spots!)...On Thursday Mom & I visited Middlebury College, which is a private liberal arts college in Middlebury, VT--only about an hour from our house up there--and very nice-looking (and, not to mention, very expensive). We went to an information session and learned basically everything that can be learned about Middlebury College in one hour. Then we had lunch at this cool-looking and good-tasting restaurant on the campus. The college has a plethora of extra-curricular opportunities, as well as majors and courses. There's a good music/theatre program and also a good languages program, both of which I like. It's a very competitive college (placed in the Most Competitive category, the highest category there is), and has a high average for SATs--above 700 for both math & verbal, which is completely out of scope for me--though with my extra-curriculars and academic record my chances of getting in would be reasonable...I had some homework over vacation :( but I've finished most of it; I had an AP English essay, tons of pages of notes for AP Euro, my French project, & the 2nd draft of my Creative Writing piece which I had had to email to my teacher...The 4 of us--me, Mom, Dad, & my bro--met up with my mom's friend (they've known each other since like middle school) & family (her husband, son [who's close to my bro's age], & daughter [who's 2 yrs younger than me]) several times. On Tuesday we kids ate pizza and watched Armageddon while our parents went out to dinner; on Wednesday the 8 of us had dinner together @ our house and then played Reminiscing (a board game, aimed for adults but teens and younger play nonetheless); on Thursday the 8 of us went out to dinner to a Mexican restaurant...well, that's all I really have to say about my vacation. Tada!!!
