College Trip
2004-04-24@5:34 p.m..

Hey! It's been 20 days since my last update, which isn't bad, but a lot has been going on since then...well, first and foremost, we have this week off for vacation (we have to go back in 2 days though!). I spent most of the week looking at colleges--and driving to and from them--w/ my Mom (my bro & my dad are visiting my Dad's parents & they won't be back until Monday; yes! no annoying boys!!). Here's the itinerary: Sunday-left about 9am to drive to University of Delaware & I stayed overnight w/ my ex-babysitter who's a senior there; Monday-hung out w/ my friend for a while, went on a campus tour, then Mom & I stayed at Hawthorne Suites that night; Tuesday-drove to Gettysburg College (PA) and took a tour there then stayed overnight at Holiday Inn; Wednesday-drove to Bucknell University (PA) and went on a tour then stayed at Best Western; Thursday-drove home. It was lot of driving, I know, but it was soooo much fun!! :) Even if I don't end up applying to any of those schools, it was such a fun experience; however, I liked all three of those schools--the campuses are nice and the people are nice--and if you asked to pick 1 out of the 3 I wouldn't be able to choose! Those schools are all very different, esp.in terms of size: Delaware's pretty big (nearly 15,000 students total); although not as big as other schools, it seemed really huge to me. Both Gettysburg (2500) and Bucknell (3500) are in-between schools in terms of numbers, and the range I'm aiming for, though there are advantages and disadvantages for both types. For example, Delaware has (I've heard) an awesome Band and some good sports teams--because of its numbers I'm guessing--but, then again, the class sizes at Gettysburg and Bucknell are small; I think the average class size at Gettysburg was like 18 or something, which is good 'cuz I really like small classes...The thing I'm most worried about, in terms of admissions, is SATs. I know I haven't taken the SAT I yet--I'm taking it a week from today--though I know I'm going to do horribly 'cuz I've taken 3 practice tests in my SAT prep course (which doesn't help at all by the way) and I haven't done well on them. Let's just say that I've only improved like 40 points, & that last score was lower than my PSAT score!! Yeah, I know, I shouldn't get worked up about it or anything, but it bothers me that I get good grades but I can't do well on the SATS. But that's OK. Because U.Delaware doesn't really care too much about SATS. My GPA should really help...Au revoir!!
